The heat treatment specialist has signed a 15-year contract with Rolls-Royce’s civil aerospace business worth £160m.
Bodycote will provide thermal processing services which include specialized vacuum heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing Rolls-Royce’s turbine blade casting facilities in Derby and Rotherham.
The deal will support the growth of Rolls-Royce’s large civil engine programme; these include the Trent XWB, Trent 1000, Trent 7000, Trent 700 and Trent 900.
Bodycote’s core business is providing services that protect and improve the properties of metals and alloys, extending their operational life and making them safer. The company plays a vital role in the aerospace supply chain.
The deal will be further good news for investors. Last month Bodycote reported a 24 per cent growth in headline operating profit to £123.9m. This was on the back of revenue growth of 14.9 per cent to £690.2m.
Bodycote has more than 180 accredited facilities in 23 countries and is the world’s largest provider of heat treating and specialist thermal processing services.
