On Friday 16th November, innovative medical communications specialist HealthCare21, celebrated the expansion and refurbishment of their Macclesfield offices, located at Tytherington Business Park, with a ribbon-opening ceremony attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Macclesfield. Both offices are within walking distance of each other, encouraging employees to get up from their desks during the day and move between the sites. Cliff Wyatt, HC21’s Managing Director, summed it up by saying: "We want this improved environment to offer a really positive atmosphere for current team members, as well as encourage new members to join our ever-growing family."
Stress surveys, mental health training, wild walks and four-legged friends are just some of the initiatives put in place by HC21 to promote the health and wellbeing of their staff. In light of concerns raised by the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, regarding the need for employers to do more to maintain good health and wellbeing within the workplace, HC21 have demonstrated their pro-active stance in addressing this issue. A healthy, stress-free work environment is their number one priority and by actioning early interventions, creating a positive team culture and refurbishing their workspaces, they are encouraging wellbeing and integration across company offices in Macclesfield, Singapore and Dubai.
A work-related stress survey was conducted to identify any issues or concerns and the results were used to implement change. "We wanted to make our team aware that we take their mental health seriously," noted Jane Juif, the company’s dedicated Mental Health First Aider. Flexi-time, following-up on absenteeism, suggestion boxes, mindfulness training, breakfast with the managing director and team activities, such as pilates and forest walks, were all introduced to help make HC21 a better place to work. The company’s open-door policy ensures all team members, including directors, are always available and approachable, as well as encouraging communication and collective creativity.
